Dry-Type Transformer Buyers
Ventilated, sealed and cast-coil dry-type units from 15 kVA control transformers up to 5000 kVA unit substation sections. Copper-wound units carry a materially higher offer than aluminum.

Copper versus aluminum windings
This is the first question we ask on a dry-type unit and the one that most changes the number. A copper-wound 1500 kVA cast-coil unit is a resale asset. The same rating in aluminum is closer to a materials play. The nameplate usually does not say, so a photo through the ventilation louvers showing the coil leads is often enough for us to tell.
Why dry-types come available
Most dry-type units we buy come out of three situations: a building electrical retrofit where new K-rated units replace aging ones, a data center or hospital expansion where the load profile changed, and interior demolition where the transformer is simply in the way of the schedule. In all three the seller cares more about the removal date than the last dollar, which is where covering the rigging earns its keep.
Handling indoor removals
Dry-types are usually indoors, often on an upper floor or in a electrical room with a single doorway. Our crews are set up for machine skating, pallet-jack and stair-climbing removals and for coring or door-frame removal where the unit will not fit. We survey from your photos before we commit to a date, so the crew that shows up has the right gear.

Other Equipment We Buy
Padmount Transformers
Pad-mounted distribution transformers are the single most liquid item we buy. A dead-front loop-feed unit in the 75 to 2500 kVA range with a legible nameplate and a sound tank can be priced from photographs the same day.
75 kVA – 5000 kVA300+ oil-filled units purchased annuallyOil-Filled Transformers
Liquid-filled units — mineral oil, silicone or ester — from 25 kVA pole-mounts up to 20 MVA power transformers. Oil is not a problem for us; containment, testing and disposal are part of what we do.
25 kVA – 20 MVA40–60 substation-class units per yearSubstation Transformers
Station-class and power transformers from 1 MVA to 100 MVA, including units with load tap changers, radiator banks and conservator tanks. These are heavy-haul projects and we run them end to end.
1 MVA – 100 MVALots of 10 to 400 units purchased at a timePole-Mount Transformers
Single-phase and three-phase overhead distribution transformers, 5 kVA to 500 kVA. This is a volume item — we buy them by the pallet and by the trailer load out of utility and co-op surplus programs.
5 kVA – 500 kVA25–40 complete lineups per yearUnit Substations
Complete primary-transformer-secondary lineups: incoming section, transformer, and low-voltage switchgear or switchboard bolted as one assembly. We buy them whole and we buy them by the section.
300 kVA – 5000 kVA60–90 cast-coil units per yearCast-Coil Transformers
Epoxy-encapsulated cast-coil units built for harsh, humid and high-load environments. Because they were expensive new and are durable used, they hold value better than any other dry-type.
300 kVA – 10 MVASend the nameplate from your dry-type transformers and we will return a firm number, usually the same business day. Payment is issued before loading and the rigging is ours.
