Call before the shear starts
This is the single most valuable sentence on this website for a demolition contractor. An intact 2500 kVA transformer is a resale asset. The same unit cut open for copper is a materials sale at a fraction of the value, plus an oil release you now have to remediate. If transformers are in the scope, quote them intact first.
We work to your schedule, not ours
Demolition runs on critical path. We commit to dates, stage equipment ahead, and remove units in the sequence your superintendent needs so the electrical scope never becomes the thing holding up the excavators.
Oil liability transfers with the unit
Selling an oil-filled transformer intact moves the fluid handling and disposal obligation to us, documented. Cutting it on site keeps that liability with you. That risk transfer is often worth more to a contractor than the purchase price.

Pad-mounted distribution transformers are the single most liquid item we buy. A dead-front loop-feed unit in the 75 to 2500 kVA range with a legible nameplate and a sound tank can be priced from photographs the same day.
