What comes available in this state is shaped by what it runs: semiconductor fabrication in the Capital Region and Hudson Valley, very dense commercial real estate in New York City, food and beverage manufacturing upstate, and large institutional and hospital campuses. On the utility side, Con Edison, National Grid, NYSEG, RG&E all operate here, and surplus programs and system upgrades release both distribution and station-class equipment. Moving it out of Flanders means I-87, I-90 and I-81 with the Port of New York and New Jersey handling export and heavy-lift freight.
