Utility territory in and around The Hills is served by PSE&G, JCP&L, Atlantic City Electric, Rockland Electric, and the equipment those systems retire tends to be standard voltage-class distribution gear with good documentation. Beyond the utilities, New Jersey generates transformer turnover through pharmaceutical manufacturing and research, chemical production along the Turnpike corridor, port and warehouse logistics at Newark and Elizabeth, and offshore wind staging. We routinely remove units from basement vaults, upper-floor electrical rooms, fenced substation yards with a single gate, roof-level mechanical decks and live plant floors under escort. Where a unit will not fit through the opening it came in through, we handle door-frame removal, wall coring or on-site disassembly. Where the street must be occupied, we pull the permit. None of that is billed back to you.

Resale value versus scrap weight

Sellers in The Hills are often quoted a scrap number by a metals yard and assume that is the market. It usually is not. A serviceable transformer priced as recoverable equipment commonly brings several times its scrap weight value, because the buyer is paying for a working asset with a long lead time on the new-build alternative.
