Selling a Transformer in Lemmon Valley

Our purchasing desk covers Lemmon Valley and the surrounding Washoe County area for surplus and decommissioned electrical transformers. We are interested in single units and in fleets — a 500 kVA padmount behind a strip center, forty dry-types out of an office retrofit, a failed 25 MVA station transformer. All of it priced from the nameplate, all of it removed at our cost.

Why Nevada equipment moves well

Our interest in Lemmon Valley is not generic coverage — it is that Nevada mine electrical infrastructure and the Tahoe-Reno industrial build-out release both very large mining transformers and young padmount fleets. The industrial base here spans data centers and battery manufacturing in the Reno-Sparks industrial area, gold mining across the north, resort and casino infrastructure in Las Vegas, and utility-scale solar, and equipment out of those facilities is usually well specified and worth recovering rather than scrapping. Utilities in the area include NV Energy, Valley Electric Association, Overton Power District. Freight runs I-80 and I-15 with Los Angeles and Oakland ports both within reach for export freight.

A small community is not too small to sell

We regularly buy equipment out of communities the size of Lemmon Valley. Co-op service centers, grain and agricultural processing sites, small municipal utilities and rural industrial plants all accumulate transformers that nobody has ever offered a serious number on. Distance does not reduce our offer — we cover the freight and the rigging into Washoe County the same way we would into a metro.

Lot buying and route consolidation

Where the economics genuinely improve for both of us is quantity. A pallet of pole-mount cans behind a service center, a row of retired padmounts along a fence line, a mixed pile of unknown units — aggregated, that is a trailer load worth real money, and we will send the equipment to load it.

Removal and Value

How a Lemmon Valley removal actually runs

The sequence is consistent. You send the nameplate and a few site photographs. We return a firm number, usually the same day. On acceptance we schedule against your window and send you insurance documentation and a bill of sale in advance. Our crew arrives in Lemmon Valley, cuts and caps conduit, breaks the unit loose from its pad or anchors, rigs and lifts it onto the trailer, and leaves the pad broom-clean with anchor bolts cut flush. Your funds go out before any of that happens — we do not load equipment we have not already paid for in full.

What sets your number in Lemmon Valley

Five things, in roughly this order: kVA rating, voltage class, winding material, fluid and condition. A 1000 kVA 12470–480V dead-front padmount with a legible nameplate and a sound tank is a resale asset and gets priced as one. The same rating with a cracked bushing and a weeping base weld is priced closer to materials. Copper windings beat aluminum materially. Non-PCB oil beats PCB-suspect oil, because the disposal cost is real. Documented test results — oil analysis, turns ratio, power factor — raise the number because they let a downstream buyer put the unit back in service instead of rebuilding it. None of that testing is required to sell to us, though — it is upside, never a precondition.

Lemmon Valley Questions

Is your offer contingent on anything?
Only on the equipment matching the nameplate and condition you described. There is no financing contingency, no inspection contingency and no testing contingency. We pay in full before loading, which is only possible because we are spending our own money and are not waiting on a downstream buyer in Nevada or anywhere else.
Do I need to disconnect the transformer first?
Yes. A licensed electrician must de-energize, lock out and disconnect the unit before our crew handles it. In most of Nevada we can coordinate that electrical work as part of the project if you would rather it be on one scope.
Should I drain the oil before you arrive?
No — please do not. Draining creates a hazardous waste stream that you then own, and a drained unit is worth less to us than a sealed one. Leave it as it is and let our crew handle containment.
Do you actually pay for the freight and rigging out of Lemmon Valley?
Yes, and it is not a discount buried in the offer. The crane or boom truck, the rigging crew, the permits and the heavy-haul trucking from Lemmon Valley are all our cost. You receive a net number for the equipment and you pay nothing for its removal.
How fast can you get a crew to Lemmon Valley?
For most of Nevada we schedule within one to two weeks of agreement, and we can work faster where a demolition or outage date requires it. Nights and weekends are available. If your deadline is tight, lead with the date when you call.
